At Mamma Maria, we regularly host hen dos, stag dos and company nights out. Not in a cold, formulaic way: in true Italian trattoria style, with a big table, endless pizza, flowing wine and rising laughter. Una vera festa. Let us tell you more.
The ideal hen do / stag do: trattoria atmosphere, a huge table
Let’s be honest: a hen do or stag do isn’t the place for a stuffy restaurant where you have to whisper. You want to laugh loudly, clink glasses, take photos, get up from the table, do the rounds with your mates, bring out some slightly ridiculous accessories, and make the most of the bride or groom-to-be.
That’s exactly what we offer. Our dining room naturally lends itself to big group tables: we push the tables together, seat the whole group as one, and let the atmosphere do the rest. The brickwork, the fairy lights, the smell of the wood fire wafting from the kitchen… you’re already in Italy.
For hen dos, we’ve seen flower crowns, improvised veils, “questions about the bride” games, and silly dares between the antipasti and the pizzas. For stag dos, we’ve seen dodgy fancy dress, pints flowing one after another, and bawdy songs over dessert. We love it. As long as everyone’s having fun and respecting the place, we’re all for it.
An office night out that’s a change from cold restaurants
You know those end-of-year dos where you’re taken to some posh restaurant, where everyone whispers, no one dares let loose in front of the boss, and everyone’s home by 10pm thinking meh? We want to do the opposite.
An office night out at Mamma Maria means:
- one shared table where everyone can see and talk to each other (not scattered tables of 4)
- antipasti to share as soon as you arrive, to break the ice
- pizzas circulating, shared, and commented on

Why the 60×40 cm pizza is perfect for these evenings
We talk about it often, but it really is our signature dish: the 60×40 cm pizza. And for hen dos, stag dos and office nights out, it’s become un classico.
Why? Because it’s an event in itself. Picture the scene: everyone’s seated, drinks are flowing, and then we arrive with a long 60×40 cm pizza, straight out of the wood-fired oven, golden and steaming. Heads turn, phones come out, exclamations ring out. It gets filmed, Instagrammed, shared. A memory is made.
And beyond the spectacle, it’s practical too: a 60×40 cm pizza feeds between 8 and 12 people. For a group of 20, we make two. For 40, we make four or five, varying the toppings (Margherita, Diavola, Quattro formaggi, and more), so everyone finds something they love. It’s really simple. No need for a certified event planner to sort this out.

- We block out the date with a small deposit
- On the big day, you arrive and everything’s ready
If you’d like to personalise things a bit (bring along a hen-do flower crown, a surprise cake for a surprise birthday during the stag do, a short speech mid-evening), we’re happy to discuss it and adapt.
How many people, from how few, up to 42
We can welcome groups of up to 42 guests with a full restaurant buyout. If your group is smaller—say 10, 15, 20—we can either still arrange a buyout (depending on the date) or reserve a large table for you without closing off the whole restaurant.
There’s no set minimum: we’ll discuss it, check the date, and work something out. The bigger the group, the more festive it gets, but a small hen-do table of 8 friends works just as well with us.
The full buyout option
For groups who really want their evening to themselves, with no other customers at all, we close the whole restaurant just for you. The entire dining room becomes your headquarters for the night. You can turn the music up a notch, give your speech without disturbing anyone, or dance between the tables if the mood takes you.
